After the birth of a daughter, Parents are most tense about the marriage of their daughter. For this reason they nurture their child keeping in the mind that their daughter should have all the skills (ability to compromise is one of those skills) to continue her married relationship further till her end of life. These things really show the importance and value given to marriage and depicts a clear idea about the fear of marriage in the minds of people.
Marriage
We all are aware that in our society, the method of arranged marriage is considered the best option and people misinterpret the theory of love marriage. Most of the people think that the relation of love marriage has uncertainty and it is not a concrete option. This uncertainty in love marriage is surely related to lack of sureness in love.
People promote arranged marriage by giving examples of failure of love marriage but they do not think about the failure of arranged marriage, these things make people extremist in favour of arranged marriage. Few reasons that persuade people to think arranged marriage as best option
- Most of the time, society and family doesn't accept and promote love marriage because of the involvement of two different castes or religions.
- Sometimes due to fear of society and to escape from criticism, people are compelled to think about arranged marriage.
- Sometimes people think the relationship is fake and unreal and think it as fraud related to property like issues.
- Some families have some special demands from their daughter in law or son-in-law which they fulfil by pursuing arranged marriage.
- Many parents think that they had given birth to a child and nurtured it so they had the right to select a perfect life partner for their child. Hence they prefer arranged marriage.
Remarriage
In our society still widow remarriage is not accepted with full support. Womens who do remarriage because of any reason have to face lots of criticism and difficulties. Today if any woman has any problem in giving birth to a child then the husband is allowed to remarry only for the sake of a child. But when any husband has any problem in giving birth to a child then Does women have freedom to remarry for birth of a child ?
At many places womens are not allowed to work outside of home, they are confined in the household works, these things are common in our society.
Mostly in front of elders like father in law, we may often observe married womens using veils or scarves and also they are not allowed to eat in front of them. These things definitely show insecurity created by society in the minds of womens. We need to empower women, not make them feel insecure by making them follow these things.
When a son-in-law comes to the laws house then he is welcomed with lots of respect but when Daughter-in-law comes to the laws house, Does she get the same respect ?
Today, most of the parents teach their girls to have the ability to compromise with the situations. The main motive is that after their marriage they can play the role of ideal daughter-in-law and live her married life happily. In most of the family, still there is orthodox way of lifestyle which demands a daughter in law with compromising ability. Do the parents teach their son any skills to become an ideal son- in -law ?
Case Story - (Based on real life story)

Sometimes, when her mother stays with her little brother then she has to work in the field as well. At such an early age Payal does lots of household work. Her mother does the work of household as well as field.
Payal's mother was married at a very early age (around 19 - 20 age) and did not have the facility to get educated. Due to marriage, Payal's mother at such a young age is compelled to do lots of household work and field work, in addition to that she has to manage her two children as well. Her mother's life is very difficult.
Payal studies in a government school but due to household works and family situation Payal is not able to go to her school regularly.
If the situation does not change then may Payal have to live in the same way as her mother. There are lots of similar cases around us in which women have to live their life with lots of difficulties.
Report
According to the Sample Registration System Statistical report for year 2018 released by the Registrar General and Census commissioner of India, shows that in rural areas 2.6% girls were married below the age of 18 (before the legal age of marriage for womens) and 37.4% of girls were married between the age 18 to 20. So, Around 40% of girls in rural areas were married under 20 years of age in 2018 according to data. Since they were married under 20 then obviously they don't have the proper facility to get higher education and may be secondary education as well.

If we are genuinely keen to empower women then education should reach everyone, parents and the schooling system really needs to improve the way of nurturing children. Till the orthodox mindset exists we truly are not going to achieve anything better. It's better to start nurturing children in a proper way which will remove the orthdox mindset gradually.
Remarriage and love marriage should be promoted and this is only possible by lowering down the importance and value given to marriage.
We know about the importance of early childhood education but Payal is deprived of it. Her mother was married at a very early age, may it sound legal but in real sense due to her marriage her life is very difficult.
Government must ensure that each and every daughter of every family gets properly nourished until they don't start earning money on their own. For this purpose, the number of jobs should be increased and vocational courses need to be given value. After these legal enforcement properly, the government needs to do a legal change in the age of marriage of females and male both. The time before the legal age of marriage should be sufficient enough to make a woman capable of earning. The legal age of marriage should be the same for male and females. This will give a sense of gender equality in people.
