RR Analysis 2021: Can the newly appointed Captain Sanju Samson lead RR for Vivo IPL 2021 title ?

We all know about the first Ipl champion Rajasthan Royals. After becoming champions in the first season Rajasthan Royals have not won any other IPL season. But in this year ipl auction they have tried to cover all the bases. So let's analyze Rajasthan Royals team for IPL 2021.

Look at their squad 👇

Sanju Samson (captain), Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Jos Buttler, Mahipal Lomror, Manan Vohra, Mayank Markande, Rahul Tewatia, Riyan Parag, Shreyas Gopal, Jaydev Unadkat, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Anuj Rawat, Kartik Tyagi, David Miller, Andrew Tye, Chris Morris, Shivam Dube, Mustafizur Rahman, Chetan Sakariya, K C Cariappa, Liam Livingstone, Kuldip Yadav and Akash Singh.

Rajasthan Royals will be led by newly appointed captain Sanju Samson in 2021. In addition to that they have a new Support staff led by Kumar Sangkara.

It's going to be very interesting to see this youngster leading a team for the Vivo IPL title.

We all know in this year ipl auction Rajasthan Royals made a history by buying Chris Morris as the most expensive player in the history of IPL.

Look at the playing 11 what I feel as the best.

1.Jos Butler 2.Yashasvi Jaiswal/Manan Vohra 3.Riyan Parag 4.Sanju Samson 5.Ben Stokes 6.Shivam Dube 7.Rahul Tewatia 8.Chris Morris 9.Jofra Archer 10.Shreyas Gopal 11.Kartik Tyagi/Jaydev Unadkat

Hoping that Jofra Archer will play at least 7-8 matches. According to reports, he is expected to miss at least 4-5 starting matches as he has to go through surgery. His unavailability will certainly create a big hole in the team.

We all know that there are always injury concerns with Chris Morris. I don't think that Chris Morris will be able to play more than 9-10 matches.

Jos Buttler and Yashashvi Jaiswal

According to Reports, Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes will open the innings. But ideally one of Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes should open the innings with Yashashvi Jaiswal or Manan Vohra because this makes the team more balanced. Yashashvi Jaiswal in the recently concluded domestic season was average with his performances.

Riyan Parag, Sanju Samson and Ben Stokes

Many of you may not agree to play Riyan Parag number 3 but according to me Riyan Parag in the lower middle order is of no use. Sanju Samson and one of Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes makes the middle order strong. We may see a better Sanju Samson this year.

Shivam Dube and Rahul Tewatia

Everyone knows about the match winner Rahul Tewatia specially after that match winning innings against KXIP in last season. He has done quite well in this year's domestic season as well. Shivam dube is a good buy but it needs to be seen how he performs because in last two ipl season he was not in his best form.

Chris Morris, Jofra Archer, Kartik Tyagi and Shreyas Gopal.

Bowling attack looks quite good with the presence of Jofra Archer and Chris Morris but as I have mentioned above that both of these players may not play the whole season. They have backups in the form of Andrew Tye and Mustafizur Rahman. Both of them are good players but Andrew Tye in the last two seasons was not so effective in IPL whereas Mustafizur Rahman has not played IPL since 2017. Shreyas Gopal has been doing a good job for Rajasthan Royals in the last couple of years. They have backups for Shreyas in the form of Mayank Markande.

Strength

1.Destructive Batting Order

From Jos Buttler to Jofra Archer, they have lots of hitters who can win them matches single handedly on their given day.

2.Depth in batting.

Chris Morris and Jofra Archer at number 8 and 9 gives them a good batting depth.

3.Good backups for the batting department.

Presence of Liam Livingstone, David Miller, Manan Vohra and Mahipal Lomror forms a good batting backup.

4.Good bowling attack

In the form of Jofra Archer and Chris Morris, they have two quality fast bowlers. Kartik Tyagi was also showing some serious talent in his 1st IPL season. Shreyas Gopal and Rahul Tewatia form a good spin bowling department.

Weakness

1. They have destructive batting line up  but at the same time they don't have any anchor in the middle order. For the anchor role, according to my playing 11 they have to rely on Riyan Parag and Yashashvi Jaiswal. All the t20 teams have at least one anchor.

2. No proper finger Spinner in the team which certainly decreases variety in the spin bowling department. They may play Mahipal Lomror in the place of Riyan Parag who can give them a bit of left arm spin but he surely lacks quality.

3. Injury issues to Chris Morris and unavailability of Jofra Archer surely a big concern, in the absence of these two their bowling looks light.

Analysis by Venue

They have to play 4 matches in Delhi which is generally spin friendly wicket. In Delhi they may not get benefit but apart from these 4 matches, they have to play 10 matches on flat wickets of Mumbai (5), Bengaluru (2), Kolkata(3). In these 10 matches their batting unit is surely going to enjoy.

Overall a good team, with the new team management you may not see the same mistake in the team selection as last year, which is a good thing.

Again, Injury issue with Chris Morris and unavailability of Jofra Archer is a big threat for them specially at the pitches of Bengaluru, Kolkata and Mumbai.

If they manage to overcome those weaknesses and injury issues they are surely going to qualify this season with the new team management.
